The QSi Qatar Event : CPD Event on Building Information Modelling (BIM)

The international organization for quantity surveyors with many branches around the world and had started its presence in Qatar. Their main objective is to raise the awareness about quantity surveyors, their work ethics and standards in working.

The first and latest event of QSi was in Qatar where Mr.Imran Mohammad where he helped people from many backgrounds in the construction field : Architects, Quantity Surveyors and engineers. With his long experience in the field he explained the basics of the BIM environment to its non-users especially quantity surveyors.

Moreover, Mr.Imran explained different types of BIM disciplines and model type and their relation to LOD- level of detail and how that affect the quantity surveyors work based on the data which can be extruded from the BIM software. He also explained how BIM allows better cooperation between designers, engineers and quantity surveyors by offering the merging property between different model types and produce data that serves all especially when it comes to detecting clashes between services. hence, the BIM software offers data that offers analysis of any clash happened for the engineers to avoid and solves.

Further more, few softwares where showcased for BIM modeling : Revit, Archicad, cost estimation : costX, solar insulation : Eco-tech & Safira and quantity calculations : Revit , micro-station softwares and tekla.
