Design lighting that fixes your jet lag : Light containers by Entreluz Estudio
Light is one of the key design elements that architects use to control the ambiance of a room to the limit of creating an experience in each different space using light only. Hosted by Architects Hub Qatar & Qatar Society of Engineers , JORGE ANDRES GAITAN VARGAS from Entreluz Estudio had a lecture about light design and demonstrated projects done previously by his studio.
Silents lights a project done in NY - Broklyn . The project was aimed to make the abandoned walkways of Brooklyn Queens Expressway (BQE) at the intersection of Park Avenue and Navy St.more safe for the pedestrians use. thus they created an interactive wall lighting that responds to noise when people or car pass which makes it a much more desirable place for people to be at, thus redirect the traffic to that area and make it more livable space.
Nike laser soccer field in spain : Using only a smartphone app NIKE allows you to create a soccer field suffecient for 10 players at any empty area in local nieghborhoods of spain. using a specilist team provided by NIKE and a van you an select one of the six neighbrhodds and they will create your field to enjoy a good game with your friends,
This project direct both technology and light design to the aim of serving the public causes such as sport , health and encourage social interaction in an age when technology has taken away social life from reality to the screens. away from that its another example on how design can have a great positive impact on people life !
Photons Showers : another the architect spoke off is how light can be used for curing jet lag which is hugely caused by sunlight. the amount of light we are absorbing so when the dramatic shift of a mount of light we lose or absorb it affect our metabolism. Photons showers are the solution for such an issue. few studies had been going on about this solution and how to apply it. Delta Photons booths are the start of this phenomenal cure.
Its important to mention that this solution can be also used for patients who are unable to go out in the sun and get its benift, such booths can help their healing process by providing them with the similar amount
Qatar Architecture & Light Design
Like any other advanced country light is a major part of design and master planning. Yet we end up having light pollution : excessive nonfunctional usage of light, where light doesn't contribute in the design in any way. only focusing on aesthetic and showing the design of the building in the most dramatic and cinematic way.
Qatar lighting master planning started in 1993 till 1997, since then there was no code for lighting design in Qatar. Only recently Lusial city, had an interactive light design that depend on the ambiance aimed to the users to achieve. look Below :
